The candor of youth

Kids sure do tell it like it is. My favorite comment so far about my weight loss, because it was so refreshingly honest, came recently from one of my daughter’s classmates. I picked my kids up after work the other night and this girl, whom I haven’t seen since probably May, spied us walking down the hall. She popped her head out the door of the bathroom and blurted out, with total disbelief in her voice, “Maia! Is that your MOM? I thought she used to be bigger!”
I took it as a compliment and couldn’t help but grin.
That is too cute. Kids are so funny. After I lost a lot of weight a few years ago, my nephew hugged me and said, “Now my hands can touch when I hug you.”
You deserve to grin! Good on you :o)
lol. Very nice, unless she meant that she thought you were now shorter.
Is that you I see struttin’ out the door?
Kids are really pretty honest. Sometimes they can be too honest. But in this case, the honesty was VERY rewarding to you! ~ jb///
When our friends comment on that kind of thing you wonder if they are just being polite, but coming like that from our kids friends, then you know it’s sincere. Keep on grinnin’!
Kids are like little Sagittarians, blurting out the first thing that pops into their head. LOL
Kids are so honest sometimes it’s embarrassing. We went to a bowling alley once with my sister. We walked in and it was really smokey. My son blurted out,”Gross, it stinks in here. It smells like your house Aunt Tracy.” I just laughed.
I just read this. You gotta read it, too.

And then you were standing a bit taller. Cute.
Somebody following me down the hall the other day asked if I was losing weight. I said “Do I look like it?” “From behind you do” she said. Gotta love it.
Has to make you feel good no matter what form it come in 🙂
Funny. I hear this type of stuff from high school kids all the time. They’re pretty blunt with their comments.
I’d be smiling all over the place! Good for you and for the kid!
BTW, re: your comment on my blog. You probably think mustard is weird, but there’s no way I could do mayo! LOL
Happy Monday!
I would be smiling from ear to ear. Yup.. out of the mouth of babes 🙂
Kids give us the real truth, good or bad. They just call it like they see it.
I’m losing weight! Hooray! I look forward to when the full 20 pounds I needed to lose are gone… and I’m going to shoot for 25 to have some wiggle room. So far, I’ve lost 5. I’m on my way! I don’t want any kids I know to start pointing and saying, “Didn’t you used to be smaller?”
