Halloween in my house

This funny conversation took place in my house earlier this evening…
Maia: Who’s taking us trick or treating tonight?
Me: I am. Daddy’s staying here to give out candy.
Maia: Well, somebody better tell him not to scare the pants off the trick or treaters.
Oh yes, Maia knows her father very well. He has a few favorite tricks that he likes to pull every Halloween, like playing haunted house music very loudly out the front window, thumping hard once on the door from the inside just before opening it, or emitting a deep, loud cackling laughter (he has perfected the evil cackle) as he yanks the door open. He has managed to frighten more than one trick or treater in his day, all without dressing up (except for the year he scared the daylights out of a toddler after donning an impromptu mask made from a paper plate). And I do believe he was successful in spooking a few more tonight while we were out.
We live in a very family-friendly neighborhood with lots of kids, so tonight Kent was in his gleeful glory.
We were decorated for Halloween and had a lot of cute kids/ families stop by – more than ever. It was fun.
I love when adults have fun with Halloween. 🙂

He sounds fun and silly. My hubby is that way too.
My son draped toilet paper from the family room fan and rigged up a swing and hung his Lampchop puppet from it. He turned the fan on low and shined a flashlight on it all. It looked very spooky. He did this because I said, “NO” when he asked if he could go TP cars. The fan was his alternative.
I’m getting a visual of the TP’d fan. LOL
I like your new digs here. I have to change my bookmark.
For about 6 years we’ve had a “coffin” out front that hubby and the kids built. Someone would lay in it (usually me, cuz I’m lazy that way) and he would sit in a chair and tell kids to open the lid if they wanted their candy. We had a signal if it was a kid who might be TOO scared 🙂
