A tragedy of epic proportions

Brace yourselves for this one, because it’s a calamitous event that will bring tears to your eyes and make you cry out in protest at the injustice of it all.
Our cleaning lady quit last week.
Yes, it’s true. The lifestyle of a family with two working parents and two young children leaves little time for housework (though plenty of time for blogging, apparently), so several years ago we broke down and hired someone to clean our house every other week. It was wonderful while it lasted, but now that she has determined we are no longer profitable, we’ve decided not to replace her. It’s an expense that is hard to justify when there are so many better uses for the money.
So if ever you, my kind and loyal readers, have occasion to wonder why I have gone silent for longer than normal, it’s probably because I’ve been too busy scrubbing toilets.
My heart goes out to you. My current girl&boy Friday has been
coming for nearly 7 years. But in my heart of hearts I know they’d drop
me like a hot potato if the $money$ is right. I’m bracing for a
increase “due to the price of gasoline”…..P.S. Have you seen Mike’s new homepage? Wow!
Bummer!!We
used a cleaning lady for a while – for a two adult household. We both
worked long hours and decided to have the lawn (during the summer heat
only) and house cleaning done. That way there was some time to relax. So,
what’s the prblem? My bride is so fastidious that she compulsively
cleaned the house BEFORE the cleaning people came. Later, she simply
decided she’d rather just do Her house HERSELF.
When I was pregnant the first time and we both worked, we hired someone
to come in every other week and do the nasty stuff that used a lot of
chemicals. Bathroom/stove/ etc. Oh
wow… she was wonderful…It was supposed to only be while I was
pregnant, but we were hooked by the time the baby came. Of course at
only once every two weeks she was affordable too.We kept her for 4 years, then we moved and realized that her prices were dirt cheap. Never got another Hermalinda.I mourn her on a daily basis. 🙂
I hired all the outside stuff done. Lawn, raking, trimming, snow removal, everything. But
I’ve never had inside help. Not even from the husband. *sigh* It must
be heaven to have, but I know that I would be one who would clean first before the cleaner came.
*Shock* You need to get the kids trained to do the housework ASAP! 🙂
What? You can’t swish a toilet brush with your feet while you type? And cook? And iron?etc. etc. etc.(My
word verification: “wnuzsihs,” which is exactly what I told My First
Wife this morning while I was brushing my teeth. What a coincidence!
Omigosh! Don’t let the neighbors know or they may run you out of the
homeowners association. Find an old car to park in your driveway. Keep
up the appearances so they won’t get suspicious. 😉
