You were wise to follow your instincts. His behaviour does not sound appropriate.. regardless of the country you were in.
I am envious of your many travels. How wonderful!

You are so much like me. I too would be wondering for years later if I had offended him or if I was truly in danger. Such trusting souls. I believe you were probably right to have scooted, not everyone is what we think or thought they were.

Yes, I agree with most others, you did the right thing.

I think you've got me beat. I've been around, but not that much.

And Monaco? One of my favorite places on the planet. I used to sit outside the square where the major casions were located and watch European life. It was marvelous.

No doubt you did the right thing, even if his intentions were misunderstood. When language is a barrier, best to keep a safe distance and stay around people.

Oh, Monique. That must have been terrifying. You certainly did the right thing - "trusting your instincts." Instincts are useless unless we listen to them. It's not fair to second guess yourself - you were smart.

I do have to say that your tale did bring to mind Walnettos from Arte Johnson's "Dirty Old Man" character on LAUGH-in, though. Remember - with Ruth Buzzi ??? Were you wearing a hairnet ??? ;)

You were right to trust your instinct, even if you were wrong about his intentions. Doesn't matter - you ended up safe, that's what matters. I taught my kids to worry less about hurting a stranger's feelings and worry more about their own safety. Not to be paranoid or have them scared all the time - they're not. Just that I think that most people would understand a kid being uncomfortable and walking off. And if they think my kid's rude... so what?

Scary indeed. It's always good to trust your instincts in situations like that.
It's one of my freatest desires to travel like you have. I'm so envious. :)

Who knows what really happened from his point of view. You were right to be on the safe side. Very scary since you were travelling alone.
