Monique,
I hardly spent a year at that house. However, I have great memories. You and your family made that house special and made me feel special through the opportunity of sharing it with all of you when I was only 12 and arrived at a foreign Country to spend a school year with tio Jaime.
It was hard for me at the begining (you all can remember...) but I tresure the memories as one of my life experiences so far.

You dropped me on my head???? And you always wondered what happened to me. Now I can just blame you for being the way that I am.
You guys are lucky though. At least you had someone to play with in the house, and neighborhood kids for that matter. Maybe I scared them all away by giving them 6:30 am wake up calls. Oh, and did I ever tell you that about two years ago I finally got Mommy to admit that I was "unexpected" to put it mildly.

And by the way thanks for doing such "a great job" breaking them in. It's not easy to get away with things when you have two versions of Mary Poppins for sisters. Or maybe Chepin had it right, i just wasn't slick enough to not get caught...

Mo, if you stop reading over my shoulder I would get this posted much faster!

My childhood girlfriend's parents sold their house and moved away, while we were at the movies....What a bummer. It took us two months to locate them and send her home......(HaHaHa)
Have a great holiday and drive safe.

My parents sold our house the day I graduated high school. They moved - to another STATE - when I left for college. I joke that I never forgave them for doing that. When my friends went home for the holidays, my "home" was suddenly in Florida, a state in which I had never lived and a house and room that was not my own. I completely understand your emotional attachment to your house.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. May God bless you and your family.

Oh Chepin, never fear. A post about the rug incident is already started in draft form and will be forthcoming, once I am sure the danger of bloodshed has passed. :) I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

And thanks for all the other memories. I was going to include about the bedroom doors and climbing the walls but just couldn't fit them in. Thanks for doing it for me. And that April Fool's joke was classic, mostly because she fell for it. That's what she gets for sending us outside to plot our revenge. :)

Well, you've done alright with this post. Good job. I enjoyed this very much.

Have you ever been to My Other Blog? It's similar to this post of yours, written to my grandkids and their parents; about the house and neighborhood where I grew up.

It's funny that YOU remember sleeping in my room more than your own...because I remember sleeping in YOUR room more than my own. ??? I know there is some law of physics that will explain that phenomenon...just not sure what it is!! I think you are right about the memories being better anyway. No camera in the world is going to capture that every bedroom door downstairs (except the sacred GUEST ROOM) hung cattywompus and wouldn't lock (thanks to our fighting), or that we literally 'climbed the walls' in your room (and Mommy couldn't figure out why there were FOOTPRINTS near the ceiling), or that REALLY great April fools joke that we pulled on Mommy (where we told her that all the bathrooms downstairs were backing up, and sewage was getting all over her BRAND NEW EXPENSIVE carpet...OK, maybe the reaction to that one really is best forgotten). Anyway, we are already making some new memories here...wanna help put out some more rugs??? :)

Thanks, Mike. I have edited to add a picture of the house that holds such memories.

I will be taking the rest of the week off from blogging to spend it with visiting family.

I remember a gentleman sharing how his wife's collections of knick-knacks made him crazy. He said since she died they have become the dearest thing to him in the house.

Those "I remembers" become more numerous, more vivid, more charished and more comforting the older we become. And we begin to see more clearly how extremely blessed we were .... are.
